Caning is still a big issue in African countries that rely heavily on the Bible. There is such a verse in there "Spare the rod and spoil the child" and that is exactly what the school authorities use to defend themselves. There is truth in the verse don't get me wrong but it is used as a means to control and dominate the child. You can discipline a child with love and that will surely empower them. But do it in a way that instills fear and you disempower the child changing the course of their destiny. I only hope to bring an awareness that African kids are still struggling.
