Actually, I think most marriages are karmic which is why there are so many unhappy marriages. Not all souls are able to remember their assignments and most aren’t aware of their spiritual nature. If both karmics aren’t slightly conscious to pay attention to what’s going on; because of the addiction and codependency, they stay too long and marry because most of their life have become intertwined. They may ignore all their soul’s guidance and stay longer than they were supposed to. But it’s all good because what we don’t get or pass in this life we repeat until we pass. It’s only a failed test and never the end of it.
